Paediatric

This service is offered to parents who have a child with a genetic syndrome (for example Cystic Fibrosis, Edward syndrome, Down syndrome, Fragile-X syndrome, Klinefelter syndrome, Neurofibromatosis, Patau syndrome and Turner syndrome). Learning that your child has a genetic condition is usually unexpected and may be difficult to make sense of. The counselling session is aimed at trying to answer all the questions you, the parents, may have after learning about the diagnosis (How did it happen? Where did it come from? What does this mean for my child? Will it happen again? What does it mean for my family?). This service also offers psychosocial support and helps parents to connect with other parents in a similar situation or support group (if desired).
